Project Overview:
The "Introduction to Live Streaming" project was designed to teach employees the fundamentals of live streaming using a rapid and accessible eLearning approach. The goal was to equip learners with knowledge about live streaming technologies, tools, and practical applications within a short turnaround.
The course was developed using Articulate Rise 360, a web-based eLearning platform known for its efficiency, responsiveness, and ease of use. This platform allowed me to design a clean, professional, and mobile-friendly course that employees could access on both Windows and macOS devices.
This project showcased my ability to work under pressure and deliver effective instructional solutions while maintaining high-quality standards.
Challenge/Problem:
The organization faced a significant challenge: employees lacked foundational knowledge about live streaming, including:
- Types of live streaming technologies (e.g., equipment, software).
- How live streaming could be applied to enhance their productivity and workflows.
This knowledge gap was preventing employees from fully utilizing the organization’s resources and impacting overall performance. Additionally, the course had to be developed within an extremely tight deadline—just one hour—due to organizational urgency.
The challenge was to:
- Quickly research, design, and develop a comprehensive course on live streaming.
- Ensure the course was engaging, accessible, and interactive.
- Utilize a platform that could support rapid eLearning development while maintaining user-friendliness across devices.
Solution:
To address the problem efficiently, I implemented the following instructional design process:
- Platform Selection:
I evaluated several eLearning development tools and recommended Articulate Rise 360 for its:- User-friendly interface and built-in templates.
- Responsive design, ensuring compatibility across devices.
- Ability to rapidly create engaging courses with minimal development time.
- Content Design and Development:
- Collaborated with subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify key learning objectives:
- Understanding live streaming technologies.
- Identifying equipment and software essentials.
- Exploring types of live streaming and their practical applications.
- Created a course outline and storyboard to organize the flow of information effectively.
- Developed the course using Articulate Rise, incorporating:
- Short Videos: Demonstrating live streaming setups and software use.
- Interactive Quizzes: To reinforce learning and assess understanding.
- Infographics and Visuals: Simplifying complex concepts.
- Accessibility Features: Included closed captions, alt text for images, and optimized navigation.
- Evaluation and Iteration:
- Conducted a pilot test with a small group of learners to gather feedback on content clarity, interactivity, and usability.
- Implemented revisions based on learner feedback, improving overall design and functionality.
- Delivery:
- Ensured the course was mobile-friendly and accessible on laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
- Structured the course into bite-sized lessons, each taking under 7 minutes to complete for maximum efficiency.
Results and Impact:
- Rapid Development: Delivered a professional, interactive eLearning course within the 1-hour timeframe.
- Improved Knowledge Retention: Learners demonstrated a clear understanding of live streaming concepts after completing the course.
- Positive Learner Engagement: Interactive quizzes, videos, and visuals helped maintain engagement despite the compressed content timeline.
- Accessibility and Usability: The course worked seamlessly on multiple devices, accommodating the diverse technology needs of employees.
Learner Feedback:
- "The videos and visuals made it easy to understand the basics of live streaming. I feel confident setting up a live stream now!"
- "The short lessons were perfect for my schedule—I could complete the course on my phone during a lunch break."
Reflections and Learnings:
- Efficiency with Tools: Articulate Rise 360 is ideal for rapid content development when time and resources are limited.
- Content Design for Busy Professionals: Bite-sized learning with multimedia elements maximizes engagement and retention for time-constrained learners.
- Iterative Development: Even within a short timeframe, gathering pilot feedback and making quick revisions enhanced the course’s effectiveness.
Future Recommendations:
- Add scenario-based learning where learners choose live streaming tools for specific use cases.
- Create an advanced module covering live streaming analytics, monetization strategies, or platform comparisons (e.g., Twitch, YouTube Live, Zoom).
- Integrate a downloadable job aid or checklist summarizing equipment setup and best practices.
Technologies/Tools Used:
- Articulate Rise 360: Course development and delivery.
- Adobe Creative Suite: Design of infographics and visuals.
- LMS Integration: For hosting the course and tracking learner progress.
